We got to take a super last minute trip to Destin, Florida. We usually make this trip every other year or so and it’s always the best time. So we loaded up our car and took off for the ten hour road trip ahead. From Texas this is one of the most beautiful and accessible beaches to visit. Destin is such a family friendly place and the beaches are just gorgeous.

We stayed in The Grand at Sand Destin Golf and Beach Resort located right next to the Village of Baytowne Wharf. Voted as the best resort in Destin, this hotel was full of charm with grand columns and brick lining the entrance. With over 2,400 acres there is something to do foe every member of the family. It’s a two minute walk to Baytowne Wharf which has several options of places to eat and things to do. The hotel really provided us with everything we needed along with beautiful views and friendly customer service which just made our trip so relaxing and enjoyable.

This hotel offers:

  • A variety of accommodation types
  • over 1,200+ available rooms, condos, or villas
  • A small resort fee that varies depending on room size: That includes bicycle rentals, trolley (seasonal), one hour of kayak and boogie boarding per day, one hour of tennis court usage per day, and use of the fitness center
  • Outdoor pool and hot tub
  • Full service beach services
  • Golf for all levels of players
  • Marina
  • Spa
  • Fitness Center
  • Laundry
  • Children’s play area
  • Supervised kids activities
  • Restaurant
  • Game room
  • Lounge and Bar
  • Non- Smoking Facility
  • and more!

This is a quaint little village loacted in the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. It is filled with restaurants, candy shops, ice cream parlors, coffee shops, and even a park! This is the perfect place to hang out for the day with the kids. We enjoyed getting ice cream cones at at Moo La-La, playing in the arcade, eating, riding the carousel, and playing in the park! To see everything Baytowne Wharf has to offer check out this visit their site where they share things to do, where to stay, and places to eat.

The beaches here are some of the best in that US that we’ve visited. The water is crystal clear and the sand is so soft. We enjoyed building sand castles, jumping in the water, watching the sunset from the beach, chasing birds, and of course sun bathing. Some of the beaches that we’ve enjoyed are Sandestin, Destin, Navarre, and Miramar beach. They all have been super family friendly and have restaurants all along the shore making grabbing lunch super convenient.

From our hotel alone we had so many delicious places to chose from. Our first night we savored the delicious seafood from Slick Lips seafood and oyster house located in Baytowne Wharf. We had their fried calamari, fried pickles, oyster, red beans and rice, and crawfish etouffee. All the food was incredible. The next day we grabbed brunch at Another Broken Egg and it is always a stop we make when visiting here. We had their beignets, southwestern scramble, biscuits and gravy, and the kids enjoyed their chocolate chip pancakes. Again, all our choices were delicious. We also grabbed a pizza and fettucini from Roberto’s Pizza and they were incredible. There are so many delicious choices around you really can’t go wrong. We also enjoyed coffee from two birds coffee, burgers from five guys, and another pizza night from marcos pizza.

There’s no way you can’t relax soaking in these views and lounging in the hot tub. My kids love hot tubs and it’s almost impossible to keep them out of them. They kept jumping in the chilly pool and then would come warm up in the Jacuzzi. We were there in February and the pool was way to cold to enjoy so keep that in mind when planning your trip.

We had such a great refreshing and relaxing time at The Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort! If you’re looking for something easy and family friendly and beautiful you can’t go wrong with a trip here!
