Wander into a sandy sea of orange and pink colored sand, grab a board and some wax, and get ready for a day of fun at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. If you’re passing through Kanab on your way to or from Zion National Park this is the perfect pit stop! You can take a full day to explore here or stop in for just a few hours of fun.

We arrived in the morning around 10 am and even in the middle of August the sand was cool enough to walk barefoot down to the dunes. The sand here is so soft and has a beautiful coral hue to it. There is a big sand dune you can’t miss and that’s where all the epic-ness happens! We were toting along toddlers and bags and decided to stop at one of the smaller dunes and it turned out to be the perfect size for the kids. Be cautious of the rising temps! On our way back the sand had significantly heated up and we almost melted trying to get back to the car alive.

The Best Time to Visit

The kids had a blast here, but more importantly I think the parents did too! We climbed sand dunes all day slide down to the bottom and ran back up again. It was so fun watching the kids get sprayed in the face with sand as they rode down the dunes. As the only sand dune on the Colorado plateau it’s definitely worth a stop! If you’re wanting to make a longer trip out of visiting this park you can rent atv’s,camp, explore and so much more!

Riding the dunes at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park

You can bring your own boards or rent some from the park. We brought our own but they didn’t end up working so well so we ended up renting them from the visitor center.

Boards are $25 per board and come with wax to coat the bottom so you get that gliding effect that makes riding the dunes so much fun.
