Canopy Austin Staycation + Review

Canopy Austin opened its doors for the first time this summer in July right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Opening during a time where health and safety is on the forefront of everyone’s minds, Canopy Austin participates in Hilton Clean Stay to ensure peace of mind. This is a new program that puts guests minds at ease ensuring the best standard of cleanliness. You can even choose to forgo checking in at the front desk by downloading their app which allows you to use your phone as a room key. The hotel is located at 604 W. 6th street Austin, Texas 78701 and is perched between all the best nightlife Austin has to offer. Lake Flato Architects, Seifert Murphy, STG Design, and Hocker all contributed to the design of the hotel. The designers wanted to marry the Texas Hill Country and the energy of Austin’s famous 6th street vibe in the design. There is definitely a mix of calm relaxation and a buzzing energy of the downtown life in this property. We really loved getting to relax at the outdoor fireplace and listen to all the live music playing just steps away.

Located in the West 6th District, Canopy Austin is within walking distance to so many great attractions. They also have complimentary bike rentals if getting around on foot isn’t your thing and there are so many great places to explore around the hotel including:
- Texas State Capital
- Downtown eats + entertainment
- University of Texas campus
- Zilker Park
- Lady Bird Lake
- Trader Joe’s
- Verbena Austin

Canopy Austin: Rooms
The hotel currently has 6 floors, 140 rooms, and a 24 hour fitness center, and a rooftop pool with a city view. Each guest room includes:
- Canopy Bed featuring 5-Zone foam and Serta Cool Balance
- open closet system
- open closet system with built in refrigerator
- 55″ Television
- Nespresso coffee maker
- smartphone connection
We stayed in a 5th floor king room with a wrap around balcony with stunning city views. Keep in mind that because you are on 6th street there is some noise that filters into the room from the live music and nightlife scene and that can last until around 2 am. We didn’t mind it at all and actually opened our door to listen to the songs and dance on the balcony. It was like our own private concert.

Canopy Austin: Pool
Canopy Austin has a rooftop pool that’s located on the second floor. It is accessible from the second floor or from the stairs at the hotel entrance. You do need a hotel key card to access the pool. Priority for the pool goes to hotel guests however starting out at just $39 you can get a day pass to the pool by clicking here. There are cushioned lounge chairs or private cabanas available for guests to lounge and enjoy the skyline view. There is a seasonal bar available for you to enjoy cool drinks and delicious bite sized foods.

Verbena Austin
Verbena is a restaurant/bar located on the ground level of the street side of Canopy Hotel. They serve a fresh farm to table style menu that you can enjoy inside the restaurant or out on their lush green patio. We thoroughly enjoyed their brunch menu. You can grab a coffee and pastry if you’re running out the door or come back and lounge at the bar and sip delicious drinks and dinner. We’re already thinking about a return trip because we want to come back and eat more food from Verbena!

Canopy Austin Hotel: Final Review
We absolutely loved our stay at this urban hotel. I truly can’t say enough good things about our visit here. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. The rooms were well kept, comfy, and had gorgeous views. The food at Verbena Austin was mind blowing and delicious and the rooftop pool will be a great place to come back to this summer to lounge and relax. We are already planning for a return trip! We did end up going on this trip without our kids and it was perfect for a couples getaway.
